mentoring FAQ

How long have you been a wedding photographer? 8 years.

What type of camera do you shoot with? Canon 5D mark ii

How did you get started shooting weddings? I literally walked up on a wedding at the park (I was in blue jeans and a T shirt!) and asked if I could snap a few pics.  They didn’t have a photographer so they were very happy to let me.  It felt like the most natural thing, and I knew I was hooked.  I began researching wedding photography, took a class (that really didn’t teach me anything) and started my business.

Do you live in Savannah or Charleston? Savannah, well just outside of Savannah.  I have a second studio in Charleston.  www.thecharlestonweddingstudio.com

What qualifies you to mentor? That’s a question I ask myself over and over.  My experience, track record for being consistently booked and my passion for teaching others about wedding photography.

Why do you charge to mentor? This is another one I find myself wondering.  To be honest, mentoring is even more fun for me than shooting a wedding (and I LOVE my job).  I spend a great deal of time preparing for each session and I give my undivided attention to each attendee for 2-7 days.  Some mentoring days have lasted up to 12 hours!  (and I love it!)  All meals are also included in the session fee.

What is e- mentoring? I know not everyone can just run off to Savannah for a few days of mentoring, so I am happy to offer e-mentoring.  Using  e-mail, phone conversations and skype (live video) sessions we will dig deep into your goals and business structure focusing on the areas you feel you need the most help.  I also offer lightroom lessons via skype.  Email me for more information.

What is included in a mentoring experience?

You are responsible for your travel expenses.  I have special rates at the Springhill Suites in historic downtown Savannah that are available to you here.  All of your meals and refreshments that are taken with me are provided.  Think fried chicken and pralines! If possible I will also pick you up from the airport and return you there.  Hey, it’s called southern hospitality! ;)
